We're Engaged!

Yes, we're engaged! Derek proposed at approximately 9:30pm on December 20th at the Melting Pot in Seattle after his failed attempt on Sunday, December 16th (see: previous post regarding his broken foot). You'll have to ask for the detailed story but here is the photographic evidence of our happy news:

After I stopped crying, Derek remembered to put the ring on my finger and I called my parents we finally took a picture of our emotional selves (and our uneaten dessert).

Look! You can't even tell his foot is broken. Way to go, Melting Pot hostess. :)

A second surprise - the spread waiting for me when we got home...

Because I'm such an artistic ring photographer...

how it looks to me

Side view... so pretty. You can see where the diamond comes to a point in between the crosses. (If I were more of a girl I might know what this setting is called but, sadly, I don't. All I know is that it's a round shape, the band is platinum and it's so so pretty and shiny....)

He did well, no? :)

Edit: Derek thinks his ring shots are better.

Walking, 1 - Derek, 0

Later there would be a backstory to the whole event but originally, it went like this: We were all dressed up and in the car, ready to go to dinner. Derek thought he forgot his cell phone and, despite my protests, ran back into the house to get it. On his way back (down a slight cement slope of the neighbor's driveway that was dark due to the power outages) he stumbled and heard a crack. Six hours later we were holding x-rays detailing a fifth metatarcil break in his foot. So really, he broke his foot walking.

Derek and the temporary cast the ER had to fashion because his gigantic feet wouldn't fit in the boot they give everyone else

Examining x-rays of the mythologically large broken foot

Poor, poor cripple.

(P.S. Later backstory = We were actually in the car all dressed up ready to go to El Gaucho's for a "holiday dinner" with "Nicole and Mitra" (read: proposal plan) but Derek went back to the house to get his cell phone (which was in his pocket the whole time - talk about nerves) and, on the way back, tripped down a cement hill / driveway (to his credit, it was dark since the power was out) and ended up hobbling over to me, very upset, saying, "I just broke my foot." 6 hours later in the ER, he was right. He broke his foot. [He proposed a few days later...]).

Dinner Club, Gameworks & Pre-Christmas fun...

Late November / Early December fun in Seattle... Dinner club at Andaluca (good company although the food wasn't worthwhile), Gameworks soiree and our third annual Christmas tree. :)

Dinner club at Andaluca... note how far back Derek is. That's because we were essentially ousted. Couple-haters.

Snow in Seattle! Me, Katie and her rain - er, snow - boots....

Gameworks crew. Yes, Derek is trying to be bad-ass.

Caitlin and her friends trying DDR

Eli and Derek go horse racing...

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...
